Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which casino gambling is against the law. Eight casinos are anchored in a generally small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent location, a 3 to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular gaming centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the casinos ranges from seven and a half million dollars to over twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few limitations requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; although, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and although visas are supposedly needed to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.
The 1st Cambodia gambling dens premiered in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored ship gambling den, features 150 slot machine games and sixty gaming tables. The Naga river boat is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown soon opened. A total of 150 slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and 68 gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machine games and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the common tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slots and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive vacation and hotel complex that features a number of amenities accompanying the casino, which has ten thousand square feet of 130 slots and eighty eight gaming tables.
