Cambodia Gambling Dens
Saturday, 16. April 2016
There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just over the border from nearby Thailand, where gambling den wagering is not legal. Eight casinos are situated in a generally small area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect spot, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two most popular betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very few Westerners. The amazing income accrued from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; however, financial sources are ambiguous. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 1700, and though visas are supposedly necessary to cross, there are ways around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.
The initial Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only one casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored boat gambling den, contains 150 slot machines and 60 tables. The Naga gambling hall is open all hours with forty two tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of 21, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. A total of one hundred and fifty slot machine games and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and 104 one armed bandits and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slot machines and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and sixty six of the common tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling halls in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of a comprehensive resort and hotel complex that contains many amenities on top of the casino, which provides ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slots and 88 table games.
