More often than not when most persons give thought to a career in the gambling industry they typically think of the dealers and casino staff. Salaries vary by establishment and area. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) figures show that full-time gaming managers got a median annual figure of $46,820 in 1999. The lowest 10 per cent earned less than $26,630, and the highest ten percent earned well over $96,610.
Gaming supervisors administer gaming operations and employees in an assigned area. Circulating among the table games, they see that all stations and games are covered for each shift. It also is typical for supervisors to interpret the casino’s operating laws for patrons. Supervisors may also plan and arrange activities for guests staying in their casino hotels.
Gaming supervisors must have leadership qualities and above average communication skills. They need these abilities both to supervise workers excellently and to greet guests in order to boost return visits. Almost all casino supervisory staff have an associate or bachelor’s degree. No matter their their educational background, however, almost all supervisors gain experience in other casino occupations before moving into supervisory areas because an understanding of games and casino operations is essential for these workers.
