Cambodia Gambling Dens
Tuesday, 4. February 2020
There is an interesting history to the Cambodia casinos that sit just across the dividing line from nearby Thailand, where gambling hall gambling is prohibited. Eight gambling dens are based in a relatively small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling dens is in an excellent area, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular betting centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling halls ranges from 7.5 million dollars to over 12.5 million, and there are a few restrictions requirements for casino ownership. Ownership is presumed to be largely Thai; although, investment sources are cryptic. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and even though visas are supposedly needed to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is true of most borders.
The initial Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored bateau gambling hall, highlights 150 one armed bandits and sixty gaming tables. The Naga casino never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are 150 one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slot machines and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat chemin de fer (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international resort and hotel complex that contains numerous comforts on top of the gambling hall, which offers ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machine games and 88 table games.
